This is the map of the known surviving area of Washington DC, and even then nobody's sure of exactly what's operational and what isn't, successful exploration missions from either humans or the infected will gradually reveal what's out there to salvage or use as successful defensive or attacking fortifications.
The Red Fortress is located in the far north-eastern corner of the map. Defensively it's about the best available fortification, the DC lake to the east means that potential attacks can only come from the south or west. They have control of the City Hall for what it's worth, this has currently provided little of value however. They also have relatively safe access to the cemetery to bury their dead.
Washington Square Park is generally the home of the infected. They generally roam in small groups but understand the significance of togetherness and strength in numbers. They have full control over the City High School and more importantly the water plant, and have been able to contaminate the local water sources meaning anyone who drinks un-purified water will inevitably become infected. They too can access the cemetery in the far north-west due to its location away from the battle areas.
The Hospital is located almost directly between Infected and human bases, therefore making it the most dangerous place to venture at any time of the day or night. Because the infected have control of the High School they have a full view of the area surrounding the hospital from the rooftop, and can therefore signal others in their ranks to attack as they have no practical use for unconventional weapons to shoot from afar. Rumour has it that the hospital contains vital supplies and even a possible cure for the infected's disease, but as yet nobody has stayed alive in there long enough to find out.
There are many other buildings and landmarks to discover in DC, this map will be updated when that happens.
